“The ELO Archives includes a wide range of physical and digital materials collected over the years by the Electronic Literature Organization. Organized into five collections of selected materials from the 23 boxes of ephemera, historical media, recordings, scholarship, and works, the ELO Archives reflect the founding and development of not just the organization but the field of born-digital art as it has unfolded in the early digital age.”
This project was a little different then most I do for the Electronic Literature Lab because most everything that needed to be represented in this collection were physical objects and not digital. I created visual representations by scanning “documents, pictures, promotional cards, pamphlets and other paper bound physical media.”
I collaborated with the ELL project manages/Senior designer, who took photographs of larger objects such as “Cassette tapes, VHS, CD’s, Micro DVD, Micro cassette”.
Once all physical media was collected, I edited them to be displayed on the archival site in a way to represent them as physical objects by placing them onto a table background. I also made the header images for each sub category in the collection, icons and video thumbnails.
